Just give em something real

SEO has gotten complex over the years one might say. But really what is happening is that Google just wants real people and sites. Gone are the days of robotically spamming backlinks to a site to get page rank.

But it’s really simple if you think about it. Just be the real person you are, say the things that you say, promote your products or services naturally across the multi-channels, optimize your pages for the best chance of success for lower competitive keywords, submit articles to legit sites in the same vertical that actually add value, guest blog in a real and natural way, and comment on other blogs because you really want to. Bottom line, be real.

Social is the litmus test

Google uses social media to measure how influential you are, and thus if you’re real. You used to be able to buy Facebook likes, and Linked contacts, twitter followers. While you might still be able to do that, it’s much harder now.

So have your SEO & SMM strategy in place, write award winning content. But don’t stress so much. Just do the things you can to prove that you are an expert in your niche. Become the expert that you. And get engaged on Social Media. If you don’t know what a pin is, learn. If you have no clue what hashtags are, might want to find out. Jump head first into the conversation.
